Microbiological activity of the ethanol extract from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge cultivated in Poland

Summary
Microbiological and phytochemical research of the ethanol extract from the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge cultivated in Poland were carried out. The following contents of biological active substances were found: 1.43% dihydrotanshinone, 1.01% tanshinone IIA, 0.85% cryptotanshinone, 0.74% tanshinone I, and 15.75% phenolic acids. The ethanol extract of the roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge showed middle inhibitory action against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria, and fungi (Minimal Inhibitory Concentration were in range from 1.0 to 15.0 mg/ml).
