Summary
The sensitivity to Dentosept and Dentosept A (Phytopharm, Klęka) 12 strains of Helicobacter pylori isolated from gingival pocket (7 strains) and carotid atherosclerotic plaques (5 strains) were investigated. The sensitivity were determined by means of plate dilution technique in Brucella agar, supplemented with 5% defibrinated sheep blood. Inoculum containing 105 CFU per spot were seeded with Steers replicator upon the surface of agar. Incubation plates was performed for 48 h at 37°C in microaerophilic conditions in anaerobic jars containing Campy Pak. The MIC was defined as the lowest concentration of Dentosept or Dentosept A inhibiting the growth of Helicobacter pylori strains. The results of the dates showed, that both drugs were active against evaluated rods. Dentosept inhibited of 67% of H. pylori strains at concentrations of 1.2-20 mg/ml. Dentosept A was active against 83% of H. pylori strains (MIC in range 1.2-20 mg/ml). Dentosept A was more active than Dentosept against the rods tested.
Key words: helicobacter pylori, antibacterial activity, infection of oral cavity, atherosclerotic plaque, dentosept, dentosept a
