Dyrektor Instytutu: dr hab. n. med. Przemysław M. Mrozikiewicz
Summary
The clinical studies show that American cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton) could be used in the therapy of urinary tract diseases. The special efficacy shows American cranberry in the treatment of urinary tract infections and urolithiasis. The long-term therapy with American cranberry helps eliminate the microorganisms from urinary tract and interacts favourable with antibiotics. The cranberry helps in the therapy of urolithiasis – especially in the case of oxalate and calcium urolithiasis. The American cranberry should be used as a medicine in dosage 1,2-2,7 g daily and as a dietry supplement in the dosage 0,4-0,8 g daily.
Key words: american cranberry, urinary tract infections, urolithiasis, dosage
